How to hitch the perfect ride to your wedding

Transport is probably one of the least exciting parts of organizing a wedding, but it doesn’t have to be. Remember how it was totally awesome to rock up to your school formal in a limousine? Well, the same principle should apply for your wedding day. It’s not every day that you get married and it’s not every day that you get to be chauffeured in style so don’t be afraid to lash out or arrive in something unusual. But before you book that scooter, here are some tips on how to hitch the perfect ride to your wedding.

There are a number of things to think about when booking transport for your wedding day. Firstly, how many are in the bridal party? What is the transport budget? How far away is the ceremony venue? How big is the bride’s dress and does it have a hoop? All these factors will determine what type of transport you should book. A hooped dress is not going to work riding on a scooter or horse.

The classic car is usually the first and most popular choice of transport on a wedding day. The choices are limitless from a vintage Ford to a Rolls Royce to a limousine that can fit the whole bridal party in. If the budget is limited, check out the cars of family and friends and ask if they can be used on the day of the wedding. The cars don’t have to be luxurious. Ford Falcons in a range of colours are a great idea if you are after a no fuss chauffeur service. Or have fun in a Kombi Van, the ultimate people mover.

If you want to make a statement and enjoy a touch of luxury on your special day, a limousine or hummer might be what you are after. They are the ideal people movers so if you have a large bridal party, this will answer the seat situation. You can save money by hiring only one vehicle as opposed to a few cars that will only seat a maximum of four attendants in a vehicle.

A pick-up truck adds a touch of vintage to your wedding if you end up choosing this method of transport. Before you decide to load the bridal party in the back, it might be best to check the laws in your state relating to this method of transport. This one may be best for a wedding held on an estate or a farm.

If you are looking for something a little different, why not arrive to your ceremony in a bus. It’s not the most romantic styles of transport but it is unique and will get your guests talking.

If the bride and groom aren’t afraid of heights, a hot air balloon is an elegant way to arrive at the reception.

If you are keen to ride a bike, scooter or horse on your special day, why not make that the leaving vehicle as opposed to the one used on arrival. No bride wants to arrive to her ceremony disheveled because of the wind in her hair. Riding away with your husband after the reception is an intimate way to finish your big day in style.
